Maybe you’re considering chiropractic care, but you’re not sure if it’s right for you. Perhaps you’re ready to make an appointment and are wondering what to expect. At Family Chiropractic of Lancaster, our doctors have training in multiple chiropractic methods and can tailor a treatment plan to meet any need. If you’re not completely satisfied with your first visit, your initial exam is free.

Your First Chiropractic Visit

During the first exam, our staff gets to know you and your unique health history. During this time, you’ll have the opportunity to ask questions about chiropractic care or your own situation. You’ll then receive a free computerized spinal screening and consultation with the doctor. Based on the findings, the doctor will make a recommendation. The recommendation may include a hands-on examination, X-rays, MRI, CAT scan or additional exams. This usually takes about an hour from start to finish.

Your Second Chiropractic Visit

After your first chiropractic visit, you’ll return to review the X-rays, exam findings and recommendations. Based on the results of the first visit, your chiropractor will lay out a treatment schedule, its costs and associated benefits. You’ll have the chance to review and make changes. Your first chiropractic adjustment will be performed this day.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much is this going to cost?

The initial computerized spinal scan is complimentary. Based on the results of the scan, the doctor will discuss any testing that is needed and the associated costs. Exams and X-rays are conducted by our doctors on-site. Some tests, including MRIs and CAT scans, are conducted by an outside specialist.

How can I tell if my insurance covers chiropractic care?

We will perform a free benefits check and review how your insurance participates in our office. We’ll call your insurance company, find out about your benefits coverage and then work the cost into your treatment plan.

How should I prepare for my appointment? What should I wear?

You can cut down the time spent at our office by downloading and filling out paperwork beforehand. (Click here to view the printable forms.) Please wear whatever is most comfortable. You’ll remain clothed throughout your appointment. If your clothes have metal, you may be asked to wear a gown if X-rays are necessary.

Does chiropractic care hurt?

Doctors will modify the intensity of treatment based on your needs. Similar to the soreness you’d feel after a new workout, you may feel a little sore after your first chiropractic treatment. If you’re already experiencing a high level of pain or tension, we may recommend light massage or physical therapy before chiropractic treatment. Typically, our patients feel looser and more relaxed after treatment. Any soreness experienced is a welcome change compared to the pain they used to have.
